McCarthy Building Companies Inc. recently promoted Ben Johanneman to vice president of operations at its Houston office. Having served the company for nearly 13 years, Johanneman eventually became one of the youngest project directors in the firm. Specializing in health care construction, he has worked on several high-profile projects in Houston, including the Alkek tower expansion project for the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
As of April, pharmacist and clinical scientist Joseph B. Guglielmo will be the new dean of University of California San Francisco’s School of Pharmacy, where he’ll be shaping up the course of therapeutic sciences, pharmacy education, patient care and health policy. Having served as the school’s interim dean since July 2012, Guglielmo also led its Department of Clinical Pharmacy as the Thomas A. Oliver Chair in Clinical Pharmacy.
Sheila Cahnman, AIA, ACHA, LEED AP, recently joins AECOM as vice president of its health care market sector. Based at the firm’s Chicago and Minneapolis offices, Cahnman will be responsible for development, strategy and growth of the company’s design practice nationally and internationally. With more than 30 years of health care project experience, she has worked with the University of Chicago Hospitals, Advocate Health Care and the Ohio State University Medical Center.
Mark Sanborn is the new vice president and regional director for Suffolk Construction. In his new position, Sanborn will be responsible for expanding the firm’s market sector, servicing clients in the health care, science-technology, and higher education sectors throughout New York. The company’s new office in Tarrytown will serve as a base of operations for Sanborn and his team of project managers, superintendents and engineers.
Graham Davies was newly appointed as senior health care planner for health care architectural firm Array, and he will be based in the company’s New York office. Having been a planner and project manager for more than 15 years, Davies has worked in the Department of Strategic and Facilities Planning for New York Hospital Queens.
Susan Pendergrass has been named director of business development for the health care field. Based in the Orlando office of Heery International, her new position requires Pendergrass to focus on strategic growth in the health care industry, specifically in Florida and adjoining regions. She has more than 20 years of experience within the architecture, engineering and construction industry.
Howard Drenth was named CEO of the Presence Medical Group (PMG), a group led by more than 320 physicians. In his new role, Drenth will provide direction and leadership in collaboration with the Presence Health physicians, which will shape the organization’s goals and focus. A health system executive of more than 15 years, he began his career as an occupational health manager in Michigan.
Publicis Healthcare Communications Group (PHCG) appointed Nathalie Le Bos as CFO, in which she will be responsible for overseeing and strengthening the network’s global financial functions. Le Bos recently served as CFO for PHCG Europe. A seven-year veteran of Publicis Groupe, she was also the operations control director for Publicis Worldwide, where she was instrumental in enhancing operations in the Europe office.
Frank J. Fortner has been named president of health care solutions provider Iatric Systems Inc. As leader of the company, Fortner is now responsible for directing product strategies within the application and interface software teams. With more than 20 years in the hospital IT marketplace, he delivers cost-effective IT integration solutions to the firm’s clients.
Newly hired project manager for Conshohocken, Penn.-based Shoemaker Construction Co., Matt Madeira will oversee and manage all phases of a construction project from preconstruction to completion, including the development of a project schedule, construction plan and project phasing. During construction, Madeira is responsible for managing and directing the work of the specialty contractors and personnel.
