Karey Witty was recently named CEO of Brentwood, Tenn.-based Corizon Health, a major correctional facility health care provider. Witty will be replacing current CEO, Dr. Woodrow Myers Jr., effective Nov. 2. Witty was most recently the CFO of Nashville-based post-acute care manager naviHealth. He has been on Corizon’s board of directors since 2011, when the company was created through the merger of PHS Correctional Healthcare and Correctional Medical Services, where he served as CFO.
JACA Architects recently announced the promotion of John Fowler to associate. The promotion is a result of a recent reorganization within the 24-year-old firm, a restructuring intended to further strengthen JACA’s focus on the exclusive design of facilities in the healthcare/medical industry. Fowler joined JACA Architects nine years ago and has 18 years of industry experience. Prior to joining JACA he was a project manager with The McKenna Group Ltd. and a designer with Payette.
Gary Owens, senior principal of FKP Architects, was recently elevated to the American Institute of Architects (AIA) College of Fellows, a distinction held by less than 4 percent of the AIA’s 85,000 members. Owens has been with FKP for 26 years and built his career by serving the needs of healthcare institutions and their patients with innovative, supportive environments.

The American Psychiatric Nurses Association (APNA) has elected Celeste M. Johnson, DNP, APRN, PMH CNS, director of nursing, psychiatric services at Parkland Health & Hospital System, to the 2016 APNA Board of Directors. Johnson will serve as member-at-large, assuming the role at the organization’s 29th Annual Conference in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., in October.

This includes creating strategic plans, master facility plans, functional and space programs, and identifying areas of opportunity for process improvement. She will also serve as a senior advisor to clients and lead internal teams to ensure consistent and professional outcomes.

Code Blue Corporation, an industry-leading manufacturer of emergency communication solutions based in Holland, Mich., has promoted David Salas to chief financial officer. Salas joined Code Blue in 2013 as a corporate controller. He holds degrees in finance from Central Michigan University and accounting from Davenport University, along with a master’s degree in management from Aquinas College.
International architecture firm Francis Cauffman, with offices in New York, announced that Carol Karasek, AIA, has been appointed principal of the Science and Technology group. Karasek is a practice leader with 35 years of experience in the programming, design and delivery of research and clinical facilities. Her specialty is the design of academic medical centers engaged in translational research.
Colin Rohlfing, associate AIA, LEED AP BD + C, has joined HDR as vice president and director of sustainable development in the Chicago office. In his new role, Rohlfing is responsible for the overall sustainable design leadership of the practice and provides global sustainable consulting thought leadership to enhance core services.
