Daniel Becker
HGA Architects and Engineers (HGA) hired Daniel Becker, AIA, ACHA, LEED AP, as associate vice president and senior project manager for the health care practice group in Milwaukee. He will manage team processes and client relations for health care projects nationally and regionally. Becker has more than 30 years’ health care architecture experience. He currently is working on projects for St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Kentucky and ThedaCare in Wisconsin.
Carol Duke
HGA Architects and Engineers (HGA) hired Carol Duke as business developer in the firm’s Washington, D.C. area office in Alexandria, Va. She will direct new business opportunities and client relations for the firm’s growing arts, community, higher education and health care practice groups, as well as work with firm leadership serving corporate, commercial and government clients.
Gregg Graines
Gregg Graines joined MB Real Estate (MBRE) Healthcare Group’s Chicago corporate office as general counsel. As general counsel, Graines supervises all legal affairs related to the acquisition, management, leasing and development of the group’s health care assets. Prior to joining MBRE Healthcare Group, Graines spent 12 years with DLA Piper, where he most recently served as partner.
Robert D. Counter
Robert D. Counter has joined Omaha, Neb.-based LEO A DALY as director of health care in the firm’s Los Angeles office. In this role, he will serve as chief strategist and decision-maker for the Los Angeles division of our the firm’s growing health care practice. Counter has more than 30 years of experience as a health care-design practice leader, and specializes in the design and planning of complex medical, and science and technology projects.
Jennifer Kenson
International architecture firm Francis Cauffman of New York announced that Jennifer Kenson, IIDA, EDAC, was appointed principal, health care interior design. For the past 23 years, Kenson has been creating health care environments for prominent clients, delivering designs that bring a sense of humanity back to patients during the healing process.
Jon Franklin
FKP Architects of Houston announced that Jon Franklin has rejoined the firm as senior vice president and senior architect. He will manage FKP’s team that is producing construction documents for the shell and core of the new $506 million Texas Children’s Hospital Pediatric Tower E expansion, a 19-story critical care addition that will house the relocated Texas Children’s Heart Center.
Walt Vernon
The Health Care Institute (HCI) appointed Walt Vernon, CEO of Mazzetti, to its board of directors. Vernon brings to this new role more than 30 years of experience working with health care clients of all sizes around the world to plan, design and operate their facilities. In addition to his work with Mazzetti, a national consulting and engineering firm headquartered in San Francisco, Vernon has served with a number of other industry organizations.
Jill Bergman
HDR of Omaha, Neb., announced that Jill Bergman, AIA, ACHA, EDAC, LEED AP, has joined the company as a health care principal and vice president in the San Francisco office. In her new role, she will be working with the Northern California team on project leadership with business development responsibilities. Bergman has an added focus on facility information management.
Bob Steffel
The Opus Group of Minnetonka, Minn., announced the addition of Bob Steffel as director of project management. In his new role, Steffel manages the construction business for Opus Healthcare as well as supports the growth of Opus’ portfolio of work in other sectors. He is a 30-year industry veteran with construction management expertise in areas including health care, industrial, office and renewable energy. Steffel was most recently a construction executive at M.A.


Gina Coel was named North American vice president of sales at nora systems Inc. In this role, Coel manages the sales efforts in the North American market, along with more than 50 sales associates. In addition to her sales responsibilities, she is involved with customer support.
