Portable Examination Device

A portable examination device is currently going through the FDA clearance process with the hope of helping health care providers connect with patients who cannot visit the office. If approved, the device would monitor a patient’s basic health parameters by taking his or her temperature, recording sounds of auscultations from its built-in stethoscope and documenting video footage of ear and throat exams. This information is then relayed to a physician in high-definition images and sounds without the patient having to leave their home.

New Pregnancy Program Opens at Columbus Regional Health

COLUMBUS, Ga. — Columbus Regional Health in Columbus opened its new Centering Pregnancy Program on May 10. The program was made possible from an undisclosed grant from the March of Dimes organization. March of Dimes reported that the state of Georgia currently has a high premature birthrate of around 10.8 percent, and with the new program, pregnant women will be able to get the care and answers about their pregnancies that they need.
