BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Modern Healthcare has ranked Brasfield & Gorrie as its top general contracting firm in the entire country in its 2019 survey. The Alabama-based firm was awarded the top rank of general contracting companies in healthcare construction based on the company’s 2018 construction volume.
Brasfield & Gorrie’s total healthcare portfolio entailed $969 million in completed construction projects for 2018, encompassing more than 3.7 million square feet of healthcare space.
“With more than 50 years of experience in healthcare construction, our team brings the expertise of generations to our work in this market sector,” Brasfield & Gorrie Vice President and Regional Director of Business Development Hannah Wickham said in a statement. “Modern Healthcare has consistently ranked us among the top 10 healthcare contractors for more than 20 years, and we’re honored to continue our work for our valued healthcare clients.”
Brasfield & Gorrie, founded in 1964, providing general contracting, design-build and construction management services. In addition to its headquarters in Birmingham, the company has 11 other offices employing 3,000 employees.
In addition to the top spot on Modern Healthcare’s ranking, Brasfield & Gorrie was also featured in the top 25 rankings of Engineering News-Record’s “Top 400 Contractors” for 2019. The firm pulled in revenues in 2018 of $3.3 billion.
Other firms to make Modern Healthcare’s 2018 list included such heavy hitters as Baston-Cook, Clark Construction Group, DPR Construction, Doster Construction and Hensel Phelps.
According to Al.com, Brasfield & Gorrie recently topped out the Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children expansion in Jackson, Mississippi, as well as the topping out of the Ally Charlotte Center office building in Charlotte, North Carolina.
