TAMPA, Fla.—JE Dunn Construction’s Tampa office has seen significant growth in its healthcare operations. Seven notable projects have recently completed, or are now underway, within the state of Florida.

In Tampa, the organization recently met a major milestone at the new Tampa General Hospital Behavioral Health Hospital’s topping out ceremony. This is one of three behavioral health hospitals that JE Dunn Tampa is building.

JE Dunn’s additional healthcare projects currently include:

  • HCA Gulf Coast Dietary Expansion & Renovation
  • HCA Orange Park Rehab Hospital
  • LifePoint Jacksonville Rehab
  • Acadia North Port Behavioral Health Hospital
  • Encompass Villages Rehabilitation Hospital
  • Acadia Jacksonville/St. John’s Behavioral Health Hospital

“Healthcare has always played an important role in our business portfolio. As population growth in Florida continues to grow, these projects bring considerable and important resources to our community,” said Jake Nellis, vice president of JE Dunn Tampa.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Florida’s population increased by 1.9% in 2022, and in 2023, Florida’s population increased by 1.6%. This is driving an increased demand for healthcare, and particularly mental health services.

Nellis continued, “As we’ve seen an increase in market demand, our team has expanded as well. Last year, we brought on a new healthcare leader, Jeff Wherry, whose knowledge of the market, industry and contacts have been invaluable.”

JE Dunn, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary, has been an integral part of the building and construction industry in the state of Florida for the past 30 years. It first opened an office in Tampa Bay in 2015. It continues to grow its footprint, with a focus on commercial, healthcare, education and multifamily projects.
