Applied Photonix has introduced ViroZap®, an FDA-cleared Class II medical device designed for continuous, whole-building air disinfection. Engineered for integration into new or existing HVAC systems, ViroZap uses plasmonic photonic technology and UV-A light to treat recirculated air without producing ozone. Independent testing at 500 CFM demonstrated reductions of 99.9995% in airborne viruses, 99.9997% in bacteria and 99.995% in mold and fungal spores. The pressure-drop-neutral system operates with proprietary coated MERV 13 or MERV 15 filters and a MERV 8 pre-filter, with an optional HEPA filter coating. Designed for healthcare facilities, schools and commercial buildings, ViroZap supports indoor air quality improvements without requiring standalone room air purifiers.
