Nationally recognized healthcare leader Lori Rutman, MD, MPH, has been appointed as Seattle Children’s new Vice President of Quality and Safety, charged with establishing a robust safety culture for the health system to improve quality and patient safety. Dr. Rutman has been with Seattle Children’s since 2014, most recently as Medical Director of Quality, and brings a deep commitment to the organization’s mission. Rutman also has served as a Professor of Pediatrics at University of Washington School of Medicine since 2011 and as Director of the Seattle Children’s Quality Improvement Scholars Program.
Rutman received her Doctor of Medicine from Stanford University School of Medicine and holds a of Master of Public Health from the University of California, Berkeley.
She is an invited member of the international SQUIRE 3.0 Advisory Committee, Associate Editor of Pediatric Quality & Safety and Quality Section Editor for Pediatric Emergency Care and has co-chaired the Academic Pediatric Association Quality Improvement Research Meeting. She has also served as Co-Leader of the Children’s Hospital Association IPSO Research Workgroup.
