SUNRISE, Fla. — Skanska has completed Broward Health’s new $27.3 million freestanding emergency department in Sunrise, Fla., adding an 18,000-square-foot facility intended to improve access to emergency services in a growing area of Broward County.
The new Broward Health Sunrise ER includes 15 exam rooms and dedicated adult and pediatric resuscitation suites. The facility also offers diagnostic and imaging capabilities including mammography, ultrasound, CT scanning, bone density testing and standard X-ray.
The emergency department is staffed by board-certified emergency physicians and specialized nurses and operates 24 hours a day. It is a department of Broward Health Medical Center and connects patients with the broader Broward Health system when additional care is needed.

The project also includes spacious family waiting areas, 98 parking spaces and room for future expansion. Broward Health said the facility is intended to provide the same level of around-the-clock emergency care available at its hospital-based emergency departments.

Skanska said it is currently leading more than $3 billion in hospital construction work across Florida, including projects for three major health systems in Miami, Fort Myers and Lakeland.
