Taylor Design Welcomes Erik Hanson as Practice Leader

Erik Hanson

Architectural design, interior design, strategic planning, medical planning, and design strategy firm Taylor Design recently announced the addition of Erik Hanson as Practice Leader. Hanson, a widely respected voice in the California design community, will oversee architecture, planning and technical design for the five-office firm. In this newly created role, he will focus on unifying and strengthening Taylor Design’s growing practice while reinforcing the firm’s rigorous design culture and supporting efforts to expand its reach and incorporate new capabilities, including strategy, laboratory planning and data analytics tools that improve collaboration and project delivery.

“Through the smart integration of design, strategy, planning and technology, Taylor Design has built a platform where creative teams can do their best work and clients see the full value of thoughtful collaboration,” Hanson said in a statement. “I look forward to adding synergy to our process, our people and our client engagements.”

Kevin Hinrichs, President of Taylor Design, anticipates that Hanson’s leadership will be transformative: “Erik brings a unique blend of design vision, strategic insight and operational expertise. He understands how to deliver excellence through both creative and organizational alignment. His leadership will help us unify our expanding practice and continue to strengthen the systems that support design innovation.”

Hanson’s career has taken him from leading practices at prominent healthcare design firms to shaping the vision and completion of large-scale institutional projects. He has directed the planning and delivery of complex healthcare projects and long-range campus master plans. In addition to his practice leadership, he has served as an educator and mentor, holding faculty and thesis advisor roles at the Boston Architectural College. His background and expertise in organizational planning also serve as a valuable resource to Cove, Taylor Design’s strategy and design studio dedicated to advancing innovation in health, science and technology.
