Regal Revamp for Brooklyn Nursing and Rehab Center

By HCO Staff

BROOKLYN, N.Y.—The newly renovated King David Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Brooklyn offers a unique, hospitality-inspired experience for both short- and long-term residents. The facility recently partnered with locally based, women-led firm The Designers Group to reimagine the interior design of the facility’s first-floor lobby, corridors, elevator area, café, private dining hall, rehab/therapy pool, religious center, observatory, restrooms, and offices.

The center provides a peaceful atmosphere to residents with a design that draws inspiration from modern hospitality environments. Throughout their stay, residents experience hospitality-inspired service, five-star dining, and wellness support. Premium amenities define the property, including the café, fully equipped rehab gym, and the HydroWorx 1200 aqua therapy pool with hydraulic floors, a staple of the facility that is currently a one-of-a-kind offering in New York City.

Throughout the property, the design team incorporated marble and metal materials complemented by a warm color palette to provide a clean, modern look. Through a thoughtful design that marries luxury, recovery, and purpose, the renovation cultivates a comfortable, serene environment for those seeking short-term rehabilitation as well as long-term residents who make the King David Center their home.

Marking its third collaboration with The Designers Group, The Allure Group has additional New York locations in Crown Heights and Harlem with comprehensive programs of cutting-edge technology, hospitality-style service and amenities, five-star dining, and wellness support. As an advanced recovery center, the team works with residents to develop an individualized recovery plan designed by medical specialists, nurses, therapists, dietitians, and recreational staff. King David Center offers compassionate care and five-star accommodations designed to optimize the physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing of each resident.

Completed in October of 2021 in collaboration with Architect John W. Baumgarten and contractor Brookstone Developers, the center provides a peaceful atmosphere to residents with a design that draws inspiration from modern hospitality environments. As residents enter the renovated center, they are greeted by a breathtaking and airy lobby space that exudes a hospitable atmosphere through sleek, contemporary design elements. Past the reception area, visitors have direct access to the café on their left, with the East and West wings straight ahead. Within the East wing, residents will discover the fully equipped rehab gym, awe-inspiring aqua therapy room, and the main and private dining hall. The West wing is designed for more administrative purposes including the facility’s private offices and elevators.

Premium amenities define the property, including the HydroWorx 1200 aqua therapy pool with hydraulic floors, a staple of the facility that is currently a one-of-a-kind offering in New York City. The moveable floor, underwater treadmill, resistance jet technology, automated water temperature capability, and computer systems satisfy the varied demands of both traditional physical rehabilitation and mental wellness. In the aqua therapy room, the design utilizes specific tiles on the walls for a majestic, glistening mirage resembling water while natural wood and marble provide enhanced moments of grounding relaxation.

Since project construction began before the height of the pandemic, the design team utilized adaptive methods to preserve the character of the space and stay within budget while navigating the growing supply chain issues. Despite the unprecedented challenges, the design team maintained The Allure Group’s signature branding, a shared aesthetic across all of the company’s properties. The design team incorporated marble and metal materials complemented by a warm color palette to provide a clean, modern look throughout the facility.

Through a thoughtful design that marries luxury, recovery, and purpose, the renovation of the King David Center in Brooklyn allows residents to enjoy a comfortable, serene environment.
