Clinicate, a file-sharing platform designed to promote clinical education and awareness, launched in July at The Open Forum 2014 in New York, an annual event for ear, nose, and throat (ENT) specialists and other providers. The event explores new technologies and their immediate clinical applications. With Clinicate, clinicians can securely share knowledge and medical instructions through its web and mobile applications. Any file, image or video can now be uploaded, shared, received and forwarded to health care providers, patients and their caregivers.

Miele Professional has introduced a new product for hospitals seeking to reduce the incidence of postoperative eye inflammations. The G7899 Washer-Disinfector is equipped with baskets, trays and racks designed specifically to clean delicate microsurgical instruments used in cataract and other ophthalmic surgeries. As a freestanding system, the G7899 allows hospitals to follow industry guidelines and manufacturer’s directions for use (DFU), which recommends the separation of ophthalmic instruments from other surgical tools during reprocessing.
