HARTFORD, Conn. — Nurses at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center are using new technology to provide wireless staff and patient communication effectively and instantaneously.
The technology, Rauland Responder’s Direct Connect, links the hospital’s nurse call system with each individual staff member’s mobile device. The technology is meant to improve hospital communication even through hospital expansions and upgrades.
McCarthy Building Companies Inc. promoted Doug Mangers from project director to vice president operations – health care for the firm’s headquarters in St. Louis. Mangers, who began working for the company straight out of college, holds more than 17 years experience with McCarthy and has completed health care projects throughout the country.
Denmark-based Pressalit Care released a new adjustable wall mounting bracket system that allows toilet height to be easily adjusted. A part of the company’s Select series of bathroom fixtures, the new adjustable brackets allow users to change a toilet’s height by up to 15 inches. The product assists patients by bringing the wheelchair and the toilet to the same height, therefore making the transfer from wheelchair to toilet much safer and easier.
