WASHINGTON — The Obama administration awarded $35 million to 147 health centers to support patient-centered medical homes through new construction and facility renovations. The health centers are in 44 states.

With more than 3,000 installations globally, Magnitude’s oil-free, magnetic bearing compressor technology reduces energy and operating costs. The oil-free technology reduces maintenance costs because there are no conventional bearings or oil management systems.

SAVANNAH, Tenn. — Improvements made to Hardin Medical Center have reduced annual energy and operational savings by 25 percent, administrators said in a press statement on Aug. 18.
Because the hospital reduced its load on the electrical grid, the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) returned $11,500 in a rebate, and the hospital received an Energy Efficiency Leader Award from Trane, an HVAC systems provider owned by Davidson, N.C.-based Ingersoll.
WASHINGTON — The expansion and renovations for Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, D.C., are on their way to completion in winter 2016. New York-based Turner Construction Company celebrated the hospital’s topping out on Aug. 15.
TeamHealth Holdings, a provider of outsourced physician staffing solutions for hospitals, has appointed Miles S. Snowden, M.D., MPH, as the company’s chief medical officer, effective Sept. 15, 2014. Snowden is replacing Gar LaSalle, M.D., who retired from the position earlier this year.
