ATLANTA — Four Phase I projects at the Moorehouse School of Medicine (MSM) in Atlanta reached completion in August. Designed by Lord, Aeck & Sargent (LAS), with offices in Atlanta, the four projects are the first in a series of planned renovation and expansion projects in development.
WASHINGTON — The American Institute of Architects (AIA) is sponsoring its first Architecture Service Trade Mission to Brazil. The trade mission will take place from Oct. 6 to Oct. 10.
AUSTIN, Texas — In April, Austin-based Circular Energy installed a 10,000-watt solar photovoltaic (PV) system consisting of 40 solar panels and a Fronius IG Plus V inverter to the roof of the Austin Children’s Shelter’s gymnasium. The gymnasium is the largest and has the highest energy usage of the campus’ eight buildings.
The PV system was donated by Portage, Ind.-headquartered Fronius USA; San Jose, Calif.-headquartered Sun Wize Technologies Inc.; Circular Energy and Austin-based Graves Dougherty Hearon & Moody.
SAN FRANCISCO — A chilled-water system at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) recently earned a $757,000 energy efficiency award from PG&E. Designed by San Francisco-based Arup, the system also received the 2013 Higher Education Energy Efficiency and Sustainability Best Practice Award in the HVAC Retrofit category. Constructed between August 2011 and December 2012, the $7.7 million project helped UCSF upgrade its water chilling system to a highly efficient system from its former inefficient absorption chillers.
Elmhurst, Ill.-headquartered J.C. Anderson Inc. announced that Seth Erlich has joined its team as a project executive. Erlich brings more than 17 years of experience to his new role. His responsibilities will include project management and oversight as well as business development. Prior to joining the firm, Erlich was the director of business development for Midland|Frantz Construction Group.
Alameda Health System (AHS), a nationally recognized public health care provider, appointed William T. Peruzzi, MD, SM, FCCM as chief medical officer overseeing the delivery of high quality care to AHS patients. Dr. Peruzzi, who has more than 25 years of clinical and health care administrative experience, will be based at AHS’s flagship Highland Hospital in Oakland, Calif.

The Board of Directors for Mountain States Health Alliance (MSHA) named Alan Levine president and CEO, effective Jan. 6, 2014. Levine has more than 20 years of experience in hospital operations and in public service. He has led large, complex, multi-hospital organizations as well as leading two state health systems as the senior regulator and health policy advisor to two governors.
