Hoar Construction Endorsed by Texas Hospital Association

HOUSTON, Texas — Hoar Construction recently became the first construction company to be endorsed by the Texas Hospital Association (THA).

The association was formed to help hospitals across Texas provide safe, quality and affordable health care through its HealthSHARE program, which extensively screens and endorses companies serving Texas hospitals.

Only one company in each product or service category receives the association’s endorsement, which represents a seal of approval that a company has met THA and HealthSHARE requirements for product quality, service track record, customer satisfaction and financial stability.

An endorsed construction company will provide a quantifiable benefit to hospitals across Texas, according to HealthSHARE president and CEO Jim Dixon.

“Facility construction, operation and maintenance are among the largest expenses a hospital incurs, yet patient care can’t be compromised due to construction,” Dixon said. “The highly specialized and intense nature of a hospital puts extra pressure on the builder to have exacting standards of safety, quality and planning. This is true whether you’re a small, rural hospital or major urban medical center.”

HealthSHARE staff researched Hoar Construction and verified that it can help hospitals provide quality healthcare in their communities, Dixon added.

The endorsement process involves identifying members’ need for a product or service, then soliciting suggestions. Extensive reference checks of candidates are then conducted before the company is recommended to the board of directors.

The process and endorsement can help Texas health care providers improve their efficiency, avoid unnecessary costs, reduce operating and capital expenses, and learn new business strategies, according to the association.

“Hoar is thrilled to receive the HealthSHARE endorsement,” said Wendy Burke, director of business development for the Texas division of Hoar Construction. “Facilities are among the largest expenses for health care organizations, and their design and construction are vital to efficient operations and quality patient care.”

Between changes in national health care regulations and tighter lending standards, hospitals face more challenges than ever before to provide appropriate facilities and infrastructure, Burke said.

“The HealthSHARE endorsement will allow us to help more Texas health care organizations manage their costs while providing the services and technologies patients need,” she said.
