American Health Investors Launched in Newport Beach, CA

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. — Founders Jeff Hanson and Danny Prosky recently launched American Health Investors LLC, a commercial real estate investment firm headquartered in Newport Beach, Calif.

Hanson previously served in a dual-capacity with Grubb & Ellis Co. as chairman and CEO of the company’s Healthcare REIT II. Prosky previously served as executive vice president of healthcare real estate with Grubb & Ellis and as executive vice president of Grubb & Ellis’ first healthcare REIT from 2006 to 2009.

Dept. of Veterans Affairs Narrows Site Options for CO Med. Center

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Department of Veterans Affairs awarded a $580.2 million construction contract to build the Denver Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) replacement facility on the same campus as the University of Colorado Hospital complex in Aurora, Colo., at the site of the former Fitzsimons Army Medical Center.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Thirty-three Kentucky hospitals are participating in an effort to improve patient safety and prevent infections, a collaborative headed by the Kentucky Hospital Association.

Medical devices can cause blood stream infections (BSIs) including central line-associated blood stream infections (CLABSIs) and catheter-associated urinary tract infections, according to the association, a Louisville, Ky.-based non-profit group that includes all the state’s hospitals.
