James Burrell

STG International hired James Burrell as its newest Deputy Director. In his new role, Burrell will oversee recruitment and placement of healthcare professionals working in correctional and detention facilities. With 27 years of correctional management experience with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, he held various assignments related to correctional healthcare in federal, state, and private facilities. Prior to his retirement with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Burrell was Chief of the Privatization Management Branch in Washington, D.C. His professional experience includes assignments as Associate Warden at ADMAX in Florence, Colorado, and the Federal Correctional Institution in Talladega, Alabama, and Chief of Detention Services. He also worked closely with Immigration Services during panel reviews of Mariel Cubans at the United States Penitentiary in Atlanta, Georgia. Burrell earned a Master of Science from the University of West Alabama, a Bachelor of Science from Tuskegee University, and several contract management certificates from ESI and George Washington University.
