Kahler Slater Earns Three ASID Awards

MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Kahler Slater, based in Milwaukee, recently received three 2012 American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) Wisconsin Design Excellence Awards for the architecture firm’s recent designs of hospital and clinic construction projects.

The Wisconsin chapter of the ASID presented the awards, which recognize outstanding interior design in categories such as corporate or office space, health care retail and hospitality.

SLU Hospital Expanding ER Department

ST. LOUIS — McGrath & Associates, based in St. Louis, was selected as general contractor on the $1.5 million interior expansion of the emergency department at Saint Louis University (SLU) Hospital. Work on the project began in February and will be completed in June 2013.

St. Louis-based BSA LifeStructures and Rock Island, Ill.-based KJWW Consulting Engineers are working as the design team.

McCarthy Breaks Ground on Texas Specialty Care Center

LEAGUE CITY, Texas — An official groundbreaking for The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) Victory Lakes Specialty Care Center expansion project in League City was held on Feb. 26, the day after construction began. The $90 million design-build project will add 142,000 square feet to the existing outpatient center on the Victory Lakes campus, as well as include a related utilities facility.
