Southside Hospital Plans ER Expansion

BAY SHORE, N.Y. — Southside Hospital, a 341-bed tertiary facility in Bay Shore, is in the early stages of a multi-million dollar expansion of its emergency department.

The emergency department will be named in honor of the Bohlsen Family for their lead gift. The first phase of the project is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2016.

New Center for Advanced Care Opens in Chicago

CHICAGO — The new $100 million Center for Advanced Care at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center opened on April 27 in Chicago’s Lakeview community. The 164,000-square-foot, three-story facility was designed by SmithGroupJJR of Detroit.
Joining SmithGroupJJR on the design and construction team were KJWW Engineering of Rock Island, Ill., Thornton Tomasetti of New York and Turner Construction of New York.

OHA made the announcement in recognition of Earth Day, which is celebrated annually on April 22. The John Chapman Award, which recognizes one hospital or health care system each year for outstanding achievements in reducing the organization’s ecological footprint, will be presented June 9 during the OHA’s annual meeting in Columbus, Ohio.

SPRING HILL, Fla. — Oak Hill Hospital in Spring Hill announced on April 6 that construction of its obstetrics project is now underway. The new $13.7 million maternity suites at Oak Hill Hospital will be the most advanced maternity unit in the region by offering a full-service program in a safe and secure environment.

The new unit will be added to the 3rd floor of the new North Tower. Features of the new OB program include:
• A total of 18 suites.
• Six labor and delivery suites
• Ten post-partum recovery suites
