Michael Ufer

Kahler Slater, an international architecture, interior design, environmental branding, and strategic advisory services firm, recently announced that Michael Ufer, AIA, LEED AP, has joined the firm as Principal and Academic Health Science Practice Leader for its higher education market. In this role, Ufer will lead the continued growth and evolution of the firm’s national practice in designing health sciences, nursing, dental, and medical education environments for colleges and universities around the country.

Ufer is passionate about leveraging design to promote interdisciplinary collaboration, discovery, and learning. He brings over 30 years of experience in higher education design and delivery including hands-on learning laboratories, classrooms, and simulation environments. His portfolio includes a variety of projects including UT Tyler Medical Education Building, Oklahoma State University Undergraduate Laboratory, and Georgetown University Medical Clinic.

Located in Dallas, Ufer joins Kahler Slater from Gensler Inc. where he served as the South Central Regional Practice Leader for Higher Education and Health Science Centers.  Other previous roles included Senior Vice President and Science + Technology Practice Leader for HKS Incorporated.
