Scratch-Resistant Building Sheets

King StarBoard ST is a High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) sheet that provides a scratch-resistant surface, which is 25 percent stronger than the company’s original material. High scratch-resistance makes it appropriate in the construction of cabinets and furniture and its high-strength and stiffness makes it desirable for applications where less structural support is available. The building sheets are environmentally stabilized and developed to withstand harsh outdoor conditions, according to the company. It can be used in wet areas that need to be washed often for cleaning, or are regularly exposed to moisture.

An optional antimicrobial additive, King MicroShield contains technology for protecting the product surface against a broad spectrum of bacteria, algae and fungi.

The King StarBoard ST XL option is a lighter, more economical version of King StarBoard ST. It is available in up to 30 percent less weight, according to the company. Constructed with a matte gloss surface and colors, it has a thickness tolerance of plus or minus 5 percent. It is also available with King FlameShield for ASTM E-84 Class A or B flame/smoke compliance and CAN/ULC-S102 for Canadian compliance.
