$23 Million Replacement Clinic Opens in Glen Ellyn

GLEN ELLYN, Ill. — Construction was recently completed on DuPage Medical Group’s Glen Ellyn Clinic, a $23.5 million project that replaces an older building located at the same site.

Leopardo Companies Inc., headquartered in Hoffman Estates, served as general contractor in building the 92,000-square-foot structure that will house pediatrics, orthopedics, internal medicine departments and diagnostic facilities.

The new clinic replaces an older, smaller building, with a facility that offers improved medical technology for groups practicing at the location. The parking lot of the building was also expanded.

Eckenhoff Saunders Architects, of Chicago, designed the new office building to include more comfortable exam rooms and expanded waiting rooms. The center of the structure features a three-story atrium surrounded by 15 practice groups, medical labs and other medical services.

The clinic was built at the site of the parking lot of the previous facility.

The atrium features a waterfall with water streaming from the third floor into a reflecting pool located in the center of the first floor. Two pools on the first floor are fed a thin stream of water propelled by jets embedded in the stairwell on the third floor.

Designers equipped the facility with exterior sunscreens and high-performance glass. An energy-efficient HVAC system was installed on the roof.

Construction was executed in four phases. Because the site for the replacement building was the parking lot of the original facility, a new parking lot was built during the first phase for the employees. The new structure was built in the second phase. The old building was demolished in the third phase and a parking lot was installed at its site during the fourth phase.
