Daniel Cusick
SmithGroup, one of the nation’s leading integrated design firms, has hired Daniel Cusick as Health Studio Leader and Principal in its Los Angeles office. In this role, he leads an expert team in the delivery of planning and design solutions for healthcare systems throughout Southern California. In addition, he focuses on building client relationships and expanding partnerships in the healthcare industry.
An award-winning architect with 35 years of leadership and design experience, Cusick has expertly designed multiple billion-dollar healthcare projects. His extensive portfolio includes the Catholic Health Good Samaritan Hospital Patient Care Pavilion, Memorial Sloan Kettering Children’s Cancer Center and New York’s first LEED Platinum–certified hospital at Northwell Health Katz Women’s Hospital at Manhasset. He specializes in academic and emergency medicine; acute, ambulatory and cancer care; and women’s and children’s facilities.
SmithGroup’s Health Practice encompasses a range of specialty expertise, including strategic planning and design for all types of public and private health organizations. Cusick’s leadership will further strengthen the firm’s presence in the Southern California health sector, serving clients such as Adventist Health, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, City of Hope, Keck Medicine of USC, LA County Department of Health Services, Sharp Healthcare and UCI Health.
Cusick graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture from the New York Institute of Technology, School of Architecture. He is a registered architect and member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA).
