By HCO Staff
STATE COLLEGE, Pa.—Stantec, a leader in sustainable design and engineering, is providing architectural and engineering services for the new 300,000-square-foot, 10-floor patient tower at Mount Nittany Health’s Medical Center in State College. This transformative project will provide advancements to inpatient care with a focus on modern and innovative technology.
As the leading healthcare provider in the region, Mount Nittany Health is committed to investing in its community—and the design of this patient tower at Mount Nittany Medical Center will aim to improve the environment of care both for patients and staff.
The new tower will provide an advanced patient-centered experience and care with a design focused on sustainability and natural elements. The design brings natural light into each room and captures the spectacular views of the surrounding State College area. The tower will include 168 private patient rooms, outpatient clinics, enhanced dining and food service areas, a rejuvenating outdoor healing garden, a modern data center, a central utility plant, and a multilevel parking deck conveniently located adjacent to the new main entrance.
“We are proud to continue our long-standing partnership with Mount Nittany Health through a design that truly enhances patient care and improves clinical team workflow,” said Jim Routh, Stantec principal. “This design also creates a better environment for the medical team and nursing professionals, and we look forward to bringing this space to life.”
Design efforts for this project began early in 2022 and were officially announced in October 2022. Construction is anticipated to begin in summer of 2023, with an expected occupancy date in the last quarter of 2026.
