COLDWATER, Ohio – Mercer Health announced the opening of Mercer County Community Hospital’s new Sanderell Family West Wing, after breaking ground in September 2016 and officially beginning construction on April 2017.

The new 67,000-square-foot West Wing allows Mercer Health to continue its mission to positively steer the community’s health.

The Outpatient Center, located on the first floor, provides specialty services offered in this center, including injections and infusions, chemotherapy, pain management, central line and implanted port care and much more.

The new Outpatient Center includes 10 Outpatient Treatment Rooms, two Chemotherapy Infusion Rooms and two Procedure Rooms.

With the number of Outpatient Center procedures per year increasing from 2,764 in 2011 to over 5,853 in 2017, the new center will help accommodate an increased amount of patients.

The new Surgical Center also includes a larger and enhanced central sterile processing center for more efficient processing of instruments used for surgical procedures.  The number of surgical procedures per year has increased nearly 25 percent since 2011.

The new state-of-the-art Surgical Center will also allow for additional opportunities for future technological enhancements and the recruitment of additional surgeons providing more specialized surgeries locally at Mercer Health’s Mercer County Community Hospital.

The Atrium connecting the current East Wing to the new West Wing features Hazelnut Coffee Bar, an Outside Healing Garden, a Baby Grand Piano generously donated to Mercer Health and enhanced dining spaces including an outdoor pavilion.
