The new model of the SmartVest Airway Clearance System from Electromed Inc. recently received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The SQL model is an electrically powered precursor device designed to deliver high frequency chest wall oscillation to promote airway clearance, improve bronchial drainage and enhance mucus transport under the order of a physician’s prescription. The airway clearance system is prescribed to patients with pulmonary-related health conditions.

Clarifire, provider of workflow automation technology, has expanded into the health care industry with two pilots of the new Clarifire Health. The pilots will test intake processes and associated workflow as well as a mobile app that will be used by nurse managers when making rounds with patients, according to the company. The pilots are designed to standardize patient care and improve patient satisfaction, risk management and compliance.
