The new model of the SmartVest Airway Clearance System from Electromed Inc. recently received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The SQL model is an electrically powered precursor device designed to deliver high frequency chest wall oscillation to promote airway clearance, improve bronchial drainage and enhance mucus transport under the order of a physician’s prescription. The airway clearance system is prescribed to patients with pulmonary-related health conditions. The new model is a lightweight, soft fabric garment with several patented features, according to the company. The model SQL is expected to hit U.S. markets by this spring.
