HDR Architects Merges with Canadian Firm

OMAHA, Neb. — HDR Architecture Inc. and G+G Partnership Architects announced a merger to strengthen their firms in the healthcare design market and enhance their presence in the science and technology construction field in the eastern Canadian marketplace.

“HDR’s merger with G+G solidifies the leadership position for the delivery of healthcare design throughout Canada that was formed with HDR’s alliance in 2007 with Mill & Ross Architects,” says Merle Bachman, president of HDR Architecture Inc. “The union means that HDR can locally offer the full extent of its integrated healthcare design expertise across Ontario and the country.”

Principals at both firms expect a smooth transition, as healthcare and science technology construction is the main focus of each firm.

“The HDR and G+G Partnership union is especially fitting as our firms share many of the same principles and values,” says Girish Ghatalia, partner of G+G Partnership Architects.

The company, which is renamed HDR | G+G, has offices in Toronto and Ottawa, Ontario and other locations.

Founded in 1991 by its principals Ghatalia and John Greenan, G+G of Ontario employs more than 75 people who specialize in the design of healthcare facilities and technology-oriented buildings, according to company officials.

HDR, based in Omaha, Neb., operates more than 40 architecture offices throughout the world.
