Madhu Gresla
Bringing more than 20 years of experience in healthcare design, Madhu Gresla was recently named business development director for the Chicago Healthcare practice of Cannon Design. In her new role, Gresla will team closely with other healthcare leaders in the Midwest region to implement strategies that support the firm’s objective of delivering excellence in project design and client satisfaction.


Donna Barry and Jose Pombo, founding principals of Phoenix-based architecture firm Substance Design Consortium, will join the corporate leadership of HMC Architects as a result of a merger between the two firms. Barry joins the firm as design principal, while Pombo will serve as associate principal and senior project manager.
The Sanders Trust chose Cathy B. Nazeer, an industry veteran, to be its new Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. In addition to her primary duties for accounting and cash management, Nazeer will be actively involved in the company’s business development and strategic planning efforts.
Sutter Health named longtime executive Sarah Krevans as Chief Operating Officer for the Sacramento-based, not-for-profit health care network. Krevans will oversee the operations of Sutter Health’s five Northern California regions and the Sutter Care at Home and hospice network services. She will also provide oversight of the firm’s ongoing facility investments, including hospital constructions in Sacramento, Castro Valley, Oakland, Santa Rosa, and San Francisco.
The Joint Commission appointed George Mills as director of the newly formed Department of Engineering. Mills will work closely with the directors of the Department of Standards and Survey Methods, and the Division of Accreditation and Certification Operations in developing a department that focuses on issues related to engineering, environment of care matters, life safety code regulations, and emergency preparedness and response.
Joseph L. Cappiello has been appointed new Chief Operating Officer of the Chicago-based Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program, an organization authorized by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. With a history of accreditation management experience, Cappiello is responsible for directing the nimble and educative approach to facility accreditation while meeting challenges of the complex healthcare environment.
Guthrie Healthcare System hired Anita Kingsbauer as the new Facilities Project Manager and will be responsible for two new hospital facilities. Kingsbauer’s primary duties include overseeing the development and construction of the new hospital projects in Troy and Corning, New York, as well as several design and construction projects at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pennsylvania. Kingsbauer comes to Guthrie from the St.
STG International hired James Burrell as its newest Deputy Director. In his new role, Burrell will oversee recruitment and placement of healthcare professionals working in correctional and detention facilities. With 27 years of correctional management experience with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, he held various assignments related to correctional healthcare in federal, state, and private facilities.
Cannon Design, an architectural, engineering, interior design, and planning firm, welcomes Hal Sibley, AIA, LEED AP, as the company’s new associate principal. With more than 30 years experience in master planning and designing for health care, he has worked in large-scale hospital projects, including a new $2.4 million hospital in China and replacement hospitals for both Torrance Memorial Medical Center and Kaiser Permanente in Los Angeles.
Erik Hanson joined HMC Architects’ office in metropolitan Phoenix as managing principal. Hanson will lead business development efforts and projects taking place in Arizona, while contributing to ongoing projects in multiple markets across the firm. His 19 years of experience includes designing and managing projects in multiple sectors.
