Calif. Passes Quake Safety Extension For Hospitals
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Healthcare facilities under a tight deadline to make retrofits to meet state earthquake-safety requirements, now have the option to receive an extension of up to seven years.
The Assembly health committee approved a bill requiring 90 high-risk hospitals to undergo a “collapse risk” assessment in order to qualify for an extension of up to seven years for the earthquake safety deadline. Additional hospitals are being evaluated to determine if they qualify as high-risk.
New Hospital Project Builder Selected
NEW LENOX, Ill. – Morgan/Harbour Construction was selected to complete a build-out for Southwest Dermatology within the Silver Cross Medical Office Building at the Silver Cross Replacement Hospital in New Lenox.
The new Southwest Dermatology project will include the 2,100 square-foot build-out of a customized interior suite with a waiting area, examination rooms and office space.
Ben Warriner is leading the construction team, which includes Project Manager Josh Peters. Design Organization Inc. is providing the architectural services.

OCALA, Fla. — Inpatient rehabilitative healthcare services provider HealthSouth Corp. received permission from the state to build a comprehensive physical rehabilitation hospital in Ocala.
The $21 million, 40-bed Ocala Rehabilitation Hospital of Marion County will provide comprehensive physical rehabilitation to patients who have experienced stroke, trauma, brain and orthopedic injuries and other major illness and injuries.
