Michelle Acosta

HDR recently promoted Michelle Acosta to director of health and associate vice president of the firm’s Southwest region.  

Acosta has extensive experience in designing healthcare facilities and a large portfolio of healthcare projects, from acute care to ambulatory facilities. She began her HDR journey in 2011, working as a project architect for five years before serving as the American Institute of Architects 2016 president in Pasadena, Calif. She went on to work at architecture firm SmithGroup in Phoenix for six years in project management before rejoining HDR in 2022. She has since served as a managing principal and associate vice president, leading strategy, collaboration, business development, designers and client relations from the firm’s Phoenix office.
