PCL Construction Tagged for $1.7B Canadian Hospital Project

VANCOUVER, British Columbia—PCL Construction recently announced it has been awarded the $1.7 billion design-build contract for the new St. Paul’s Hospital Project.
This health care facility will be the most extensive hospital redevelopment in BC’s history and PCL’s largest Buildings division design-build in company history.
The new St. Paul’s Hospital (thenewstpauls.ca) will offer a diverse and long list of general and specialized care, including chronic disease management services; emergency and critical care; mental health and addictions with approximately 550 beds and programs; ambulatory services and outpatient clinics; end-of-life care; Indigenous health; maternity; colorectal and gastrointestinal services; and community care and community outreach programs. It will also include a multi-level underground parking garage, a public plaza, new roads, and civil infrastructure.

HDR Architecture Associates, Inc. and Stantec Architecture Ltd., are the architects on the project. Site preparation and construction is expected to begin in spring 2021 and scheduled for completion in 2026.
