Moffit Cancer Center Awarded for Pest Control Measures
TAMPA, Fla. – Orkin, the IPM Institute and the Association for the Healthcare Environment (AHE) has honored Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa with the 2014 IPM Partner Award in the health care category.
The IPM Partner Awards, now in its 11th year, honor facilities for their dedication to Integrated Pest Management (IPM) partnerships with Orkin, a subsidiary of Rollins Inc. based in Atlanta.
IPM is a pest management program that emphasizes environmental responsibility by using multiple methods of non-chemical pest control and prevention. Whilst you may wish to visit a website like sustainablepest.com/ if you live outside of the IPM service area, it is important to recognize the expert job they have carried out. There is no business or home that would appreciate pests living under their roof and when a business or home finds that pests are sharing the same space with them, they’ll often call yuma pest control to come and get rid of the vermin and cleanse the area, but if this can be done sustainably, not only will it be better for the home, it’ll be better for the environment too. Moffitt was honored for its commitment to a comprehensive IPM program, which focuses on vigilant sanitation, prompt attention to structural pest management recommendations, diligent record keeping and staff participation in IPM training sessions.
“The IPM Partner Awards are significant because they represent what all health care organizations should be striving for when it comes to pest management: an exemplary adherence to IPM and partnership,” said Zia Siddiqi, Orkin director of quality systems, in a statement. “It is these characteristics that help facilities achieve pest management success.”
The IPM Institute is a nonprofit formed in 1998 that helps hospitals, farmers and other service providers manage pests in a way that helps protect health and the environment while improving economic returns.
“A commitment to IPM is a commitment to protecting the environment as well as the health of our communities,” said Thomas Green, Ph.D., president of The IPM Institute of North America, in a statement. “At the IPM Institute of North America, our goal is to accelerate the adoption of IPM, and so it is with great pride that we are co-presenters in recognizing a facility that has gone above and beyond to achieve IPM excellence and set a great example for other facilities in the community.”
The AHE, which is affiliated with the American Hospital Association, is an organization for professionals responsible for health care workers working to ensure quality and wellbeing.
