San Jose State to Get New Health Center
SAN JOSE, Calif. — Ratcliff Architects, based in Emeryville, and its partner, Santa Clara-based Blach Construction Company, were chosen to design and build a new $25 million student health and counseling center at San Jose State University (SJSU).

As of April, pharmacist and clinical scientist Joseph B. Guglielmo will be the new dean of University of California San Francisco’s School of Pharmacy, where he’ll be shaping up the course of therapeutic sciences, pharmacy education, patient care and health policy. Having served as the school’s interim dean since July 2012, Guglielmo also led its Department of Clinical Pharmacy as the Thomas A. Oliver Chair in Clinical Pharmacy.

Based at the firm’s Chicago and Minneapolis offices, Cahnman will be responsible for development, strategy and growth of the company’s design practice nationally and internationally. With more than 30 years of health care project experience, she has worked with the University of Chicago Hospitals, Advocate Health Care and the Ohio State University Medical Center.
HDR Architecture Expands into Germany
OMAHA, Neb. — HDR Architecture, headquartered in Omaha, continues to expand as one of the world’s top health care and science + technology design firms. It recently merged with TMK Architekten Ingeneieure, a Dusseldorf, Germany-based company that has led the country’s health care architecture market. The merged company will operate as HDR TMK, and will serve as the hub of the firm’s health care and science + technology design programs in Europe.
McCarthy Breaks Ground on Texas Specialty Care Center
LEAGUE CITY, Texas — An official groundbreaking for The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) Victory Lakes Specialty Care Center expansion project in League City was held on Feb. 26, the day after construction began. The $90 million design-build project will add 142,000 square feet to the existing outpatient center on the Victory Lakes campus, as well as include a related utilities facility.
