Bed Riser System
The new Attenda Bed and Riser from Norix is designed to enhance patient and staff safety. The nonporous, one-piece construction is molded in an impact polymer with no seams, frames or moving parts that may pose a threat to patient safety, according to the company. Users are able to adjust the bed riser up to eight inches tall, allowing staff to tend to patients easily. Offering durability, the bed system is available in various colors.


The 2012 International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) recognized Herman Miller’s enhancements its Compass System for health care environments as a finalist in the category of medical and scientific products. The Industrial Designers Society of America has been presenting IDEA awards since 1980.

Keith Banes recently joined Mortenson Construction’s Seattle Operating Group in Kirkland, Wash. as senior project manager. Banes joins Mortenson after 15 years with JE Dunn Construction in health care and correctional facility construction. Mortenson believes Bane’s experience and leadership in these areas will strengthen its operations. Banes received a Bachelor of Science in construction science and management from Kansas State University in 1994.
