MERCED, Calif. — Mercy Medical Center, the first hospital to open in Merced in 80 years, was recently completed.

The $260 million, seven-floor facility consolidates two medical campuses and houses 194 beds, as well as an ICU, surgery, labor and delivery units, a neonatal ICU, a newborn nursery, an emergency room and an ambulatory care center.
Mercy Medical includes a 266,000-square-foot general acute tower and a 19,000-square-foot central plant. McCarthy Building Companies Inc. built the new medical center, which was designed by RBB Architects Inc. of Sacramento. Construction manager Harris & Associates of Concord, Calif., also worked on the project.
Phase 2 of Mercy Medical’s development includes a six- to seven-story acute-care tower and a three-story medical office building, estimated for completion by 2018. Phase 3 includes a five- to six-story acute-care tower, a three-story medical office building and a central plant expansion, all of which have an estimated completion date of 2023.
