Funding Could Provide New Hospital in New York

UTICA, N.Y. — New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo allocated $300 million to health care integration in Oneida County in his proposed budget. This funding would allow a proposed Utica-area hospital to become a reality. The health system also is applying for another $100 million through a state program using savings from Medicaid to redesign New York’s health care system and improve care for Medicaid patients.

Iowa Children’s Hospital Construction on Schedule

IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa (UI) officials announced earlier this month that the $292 million UI Children’s Hospital remains on track for a late summer 2016 opening, despite challenging winter weather and a dearth of skilled laborers in the area. Jeff Sperring

Sperring currently serves as president and CEO of Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health in Indianapolis. North Ottawa Campaigns to Fund Renovation

GRAND HAVEN, Mich. — Lakeshore-based North Ottawa Community Health System (NOCHS) announced on March 5 a $2.5 million capital campaign to fund construction of a 15,500-square-foot project that includes an addition and renovation of its existing emergency room.

The project being funded by the “Pulse” capital campaign aims to achieve a triple bottom line: better, more efficient care for true emergencies; improved population health for the community; and provide more affordable care.

Florida Hospital Begins Construction Expansion

WESLEY CHAPEL, Fla. — Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel will begin construction this year on a $78 million expansion that will nearly double the size of patient rooms, operating rooms and emergency rooms.

“Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel was originally designed with the ability to grow with the needs of the community,” said Chief Medical Officer Robert Rosequist in a statement. “Since opening less than three years ago, the hospital has experienced extremely high volumes of patients seeking care.”
