Regulated medical waste carts from laundry product manufacturer Meese Orbitron Dunne (MOD) meet Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance for transporting hospital linens and other textiles that may be contaminated with the Ebola virus. As specified in the CDC’s Interim Guidance for Environmental Infection Control in Hospitals for Ebola Virus, the company’s Poly-Trux 70P and 72P biohazard carts provide rigid, leak-proof containment for bagged medical waste inside a durable, plastic design that may be locked to prevent access.

J+J Flooring Group has launched the Counterbalance Collection, its second offering of Kinetex textile composite flooring. Constructed of knitted polyester fabric and cushioned polyester felt backing, it provides the durability of hard-surface flooring, the comfort and warmth of soft-surface flooring, and better acoustics and safety than either. This workhorse flooring is virtually unaffected by common stains and resists crushing. Kinetex also has 50 percent lower environmental impact than traditional hard- or soft-surface flooring.

Caster Concepts’ CasterShox is a new line of shock-absorbing casters that reduce factory noise levels from carts by as much as 15 dbA or 90 percent, reduce shock loads by up to 80 percent and cost 20 to 50 percent less than conventional spring-loaded casters. These benefits are gained with no major modifications to carts since the ultra-compact design allows for the noise-reduction technology to fit within the current caster wheel footprint. CasterShox’s industrial caster wheels use a giant, deep groove ball bearing that guarantees roll-ability and ergonomics.

The first 3e-6 lux ultra low-light CMOS bio-optical sensor and solution kit for portable medical and scientific instruments is now available from Anitoa Systems. Anitoa’s sensor enables the realization of a low-cost and portable medical or scientific instrument. The CMOS bio-optical sensor is a very small and ultra-sensitive image sensor IC (integrated circuit) manufactured with mature and low-cost semiconductor technology and enhanced by Anitoa’s management algorithm.

RF Surgical Systems introduced the RF Assure Delivery System. It is the first device on the market for locating sponges and gauze exclusively designed for the labor and delivery environment. The RF Assure delivery system uses low-energy radio frequency tags in cotton surgical sponges, gauze and towels commonly used in labor and delivery. Most hospitals in the U.S., particularly labor and delivery rooms, rely on traditional manual counting protocols to detect and prevent the occurrences of retained surgical sponges.

Datalogic introduced the QuickScan QBT2400 and QM2400 cordless imagers to the QuickScan 2D imager line of general-purpose handheld scanners. These imagers offer high speed and accuracy while reading 1D codes, various 2D codes and stacked codes such as the PDF417. Wireless mobility helps the operator roam at the point of sale. The QuickScan QBT2400 2D imager employs Bluetooth, allowing transmission of data to the host through its base station, as well as to any commercial or embedded Bluetooth v3.0 device.

Sunburst Chemicals introduces Reliance, a super concentrated, technologically advanced detergent specifically formulated for cleaning linens in front-loading washing machines. Reliance contains wetting agents and detergents that break down surface tension and penetrate deep into soils, removing stains from fabric. The non-ionic active blends keep soils and greases from being able to permanently stain fabrics. Controlled sudsing makes rinsing faster and more effective, even in high-efficiency machines. Reliance is dispensed using a closed-loop dispensing system.

Nora systems has introduced norament xp trac. This newest addition to the norament xp product line is specifically designed to meet the stringent requirements of Current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMP) facilities, including enhanced slip resistance and extreme durability. Norament xp trac also offers superior stain resistance, along with underfoot comfort and sound-reducing properties that contribute to a comfortable, quiet environment. The slip resistance is in compliance with OSHA requirements, and the floor covering is available in 3.5-mm tiles and one standard color.
