HMC Merges With Substance Design Consortium

PHOENIX — In its second major merger this year, HMC Architects merged with Substance Design Consortium, a Phoenix-based design firm.

The new firm will be known as HMC+Substance Design and will operate from its existing studio in downtown Phoenix.

Earlier this year, HMC Architects merged with San Francisco-based Beverly Prior Architects, forming HMC+Beverly Prior Architects.

Yale Cancer Hospital Earns LEED

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — The Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven earned LEED certification in recognition of its sustainable design and construction strategies.

The hospital spans 516,000 square feet and features 14 floors, 168 private patient rooms, 12 operating rooms, radiation therapy and several integrated imaging technologies.
