The FreeHand High-Efficiency flush valve from Moen Inc. uses an infrared sensor to activate a flush cycle when the user is in range. The valves also feature a flow rate of 1.28 gallons per minute, a 20 percent savings over the industry standard of 1.6 gpm. For urinals, the valves use a flow rate of 0.5 gpm, 50 percent less than the industry standard.
