JACA Architects recently announced that Cristὁbal Arria has been named an associate with the firm. Arria joins the 24-year-old company as it undergoes reorganization intended to further strengthen its focus on the exclusive design of facilities in the healthcare/medical industry. Arria comes to JACA Architects with 16 years of industry experience, and most recently worked with TRO Jung/Brannen in Boston.


Code Blue Corporation, an industry-leading manufacturer of emergency communication solutions based in Holland, Mich., has promoted David Salas to chief financial officer. Salas joined Code Blue in 2013 as a corporate controller. He holds degrees in finance from Central Michigan University and accounting from Davenport University, along with a master’s degree in management from Aquinas College.
International architecture firm Francis Cauffman, with offices in New York, announced that Carol Karasek, AIA, has been appointed principal of the Science and Technology group. Karasek is a practice leader with 35 years of experience in the programming, design and delivery of research and clinical facilities. Her specialty is the design of academic medical centers engaged in translational research.
Colin Rohlfing, associate AIA, LEED AP BD + C, has joined HDR as vice president and director of sustainable development in the Chicago office. In his new role, Rohlfing is responsible for the overall sustainable design leadership of the practice and provides global sustainable consulting thought leadership to enhance core services.
Gina Coel was named North American vice president of sales at nora systems Inc. In this role, Coel manages the sales efforts in the North American market, along with more than 50 sales associates. In addition to her sales responsibilities, she is involved with customer support.
HGA Architects and Engineers (HGA) hired Daniel Becker, AIA, ACHA, LEED AP, as associate vice president and senior project manager for the health care practice group in Milwaukee. He will manage team processes and client relations for health care projects nationally and regionally. Becker has more than 30 years’ health care architecture experience. He currently is working on projects for St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Kentucky and ThedaCare in Wisconsin.
HGA Architects and Engineers (HGA) hired Carol Duke as business developer in the firm’s Washington, D.C. area office in Alexandria, Va. She will direct new business opportunities and client relations for the firm’s growing arts, community, higher education and health care practice groups, as well as work with firm leadership serving corporate, commercial and government clients.
Gregg Graines joined MB Real Estate (MBRE) Healthcare Group’s Chicago corporate office as general counsel. As general counsel, Graines supervises all legal affairs related to the acquisition, management, leasing and development of the group’s health care assets. Prior to joining MBRE Healthcare Group, Graines spent 12 years with DLA Piper, where he most recently served as partner.
Robert D. Counter has joined Omaha, Neb.-based LEO A DALY as director of health care in the firm’s Los Angeles office. In this role, he will serve as chief strategist and decision-maker for the Los Angeles division of our the firm’s growing health care practice. Counter has more than 30 years of experience as a health care-design practice leader, and specializes in the design and planning of complex medical, and science and technology projects.
International architecture firm Francis Cauffman of New York announced that Jennifer Kenson, IIDA, EDAC, was appointed principal, health care interior design. For the past 23 years, Kenson has been creating health care environments for prominent clients, delivering designs that bring a sense of humanity back to patients during the healing process.
