In 2015, construction in the health care industry tended to move towards approaches that would hopefully give patients a more tailored and personal-care experience. Some of the hospitals focused on bringing nature inside and into the healing process, while other hospitals took a more digital approach. Read on to see three of the top projects of 2015.
DALLAS — Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas opened a new state-of-the-art Neuro ICU, which will replace the old and outdated facility. The previous Neuro ICU provided great care to the patients, but was not the greatest healing environment. The ICU was very congested with equipment, doctors, nurses, other medical professionals and loved ones, said Christiana Hall, MD, medical director, Neuroscience ICU at Parkland and associate professor of Neurology, Neurotherapeutics and Neurosurgery at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, in a statement.
Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) has named Peggy Sebastian, MSN, the new president and CEO of HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville, Ill. Sebastian has served as president and CEO of HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland, Ill., since 2009 and will begin her new position at St. Elizabeth’s on Jan. 18. She has more than 35 years of experience in health care administration and oversaw St.
Walters Healthcare Resources (WHR) developed the IN-DAPT Ceiling system using a modular, medical construction grid system. The system allows for easy installation and repositioning for the increasing technologies and services that are regularly installed in, routed through or hang from the ceiling. It has five integrated components that are able to “future-proof” operating rooms, allowing the hospitals to avoid renovation costs and down-time for the emergency room when new technology becomes available.
