Funding Could Provide New Hospital in New York
UTICA, N.Y. — New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo allocated $300 million to health care integration in Oneida County in his proposed budget. This funding would allow a proposed Utica-area hospital to become a reality. The health system also is applying for another $100 million through a state program using savings from Medicaid to redesign New York’s health care system and improve care for Medicaid patients.


Dr. Jeff Sperring has been appointed as the next CEO at Seattle Children’s Hospital. Sperring currently serves as president and CEO of Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health in Indianapolis. Starting in early May, he’ll replace Dr. Thomas Hansen, who will retire as CEO after 10 years of service but continue to serve as an investigator in the Seattle Children’s Research Institute.
Steven Steinberg, AIA, has joined HGA as an associate vice president and health care principal directing new business development and client relations. He most recently worked with Ratcliff Architects in Emeryville, Calif., as a principal and co-leader of the health care practice. Steinberg has a Bachelor of Architecture from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, N.Y., and a Bachelor of Arts from Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y.
TORONTO, Ontario — Two projects from PCL Constructors Canada have achieved LEED Silver certification through the Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC).
ROYAL OAK, Mich. — Construction has begun on a new Proton Therapy Center at Beaumont Hospital’s Cancer Institute in Royal Oak. Proton therapy is a newer, high-tech alternative to treating certain cancers.
