Clinicate, a file-sharing platform designed to promote clinical education and awareness, launched in July at The Open Forum 2014 in New York, an annual event for ear, nose, and throat (ENT) specialists and other providers. The event explores new technologies and their immediate clinical applications. With Clinicate, clinicians can securely share knowledge and medical instructions through its web and mobile applications. Any file, image or video can now be uploaded, shared, received and forwarded to health care providers, patients and their caregivers.

After conducting market research and consulting with doctors and health care professionals, Glaro Inc. engineered the all-metal Sani-Wise line with rolls of 8-by-6-inch surface wipes (rolls of 800 each). These dimensions are ideal for commercial use on large or small surfaces. Floor-standing dispensers feature 14-inch diameter weighted bases for added stability. They also have a one-wipe-per-pull design that prevents waste. A double-snap button top holds the cover on tight when users pull to remove a wipe.

Datalogic announces the availability of the Elf Healthcare PDA. This ergonomic PDA features an enclosure made of chemical-resistant plastics, enabling it to withstand daily cleaning with harsh disinfectant solutions. The PDA is equipped with the Datalogic-patented “Green Spot” and a vibrating alert that provides bar-code-read feedback while avoiding noisy beeps.

Miele Professional has introduced a new product for hospitals seeking to reduce the incidence of postoperative eye inflammations. The G7899 Washer-Disinfector is equipped with baskets, trays and racks designed specifically to clean delicate microsurgical instruments used in cataract and other ophthalmic surgeries. As a freestanding system, the G7899 allows hospitals to follow industry guidelines and manufacturer’s directions for use (DFU), which recommends the separation of ophthalmic instruments from other surgical tools during reprocessing.

Belimed has released a new sonic cleaning unit, the UW 565. Designed to address current clinical issues with limited sonic capacity, space and flexibility, the UW 565 is a single-chamber wash/rinse unit with dual-stack tray capacity and standard cannulated irrigation systems. It fits inline with existing sterile processing department (SPD) sinks and countertops and has more than twice the capacity of current wash and rinse chamber consoles in a narrower overall width that’s ideal for large volumes of both current and future orthopedic, bariatric, MIS and robotic instruments.

The Cookson Company and Cornell Iron Works, both brands of CIW Enterprises, have introduced the 342 High-Performance Grille, which travels three times faster than traditional coiling grilles and provides operational efficiency for more than 300,000 cycles. The coiling grille offers building owners a fast and virtually maintenance-free solution for critical, high-traffic openings.

The Poly-Trux 72ERgonomic bulk linen cart from Meese Orbitron Dunne (MOD) aims to improve worker safety. The cart features an ergonomic spring platform that automatically rises as linens are removed. By bringing loose linens, loaded laundry bags and other goods to a comfortable working height, the cart reduces repetitive bending and reaching, shortens the distance goods need to be lifted and minimizes the potential for workers’ compensation claims. It also is designed with an oversized, front cutaway that spans nearly the entire width of the cart.

Lista, a STANLEY Industrial & Automotive business, now offers a new line of aluminum-anodized drawer handle covers for the Lista Tech Drawer Pull. Available in three finishes, these sturdy handle covers are rugged, easy to clean and dependable.
