Groundbreaking for N. California Cancer Center Addition
MARYSVILLE, Calif. — A groundbreaking ceremony for a $19 million expansion of the Fremont-Rideout Cancer Center in Marysville was held in early August by Fremont Rideout Health Care (FRHG) and UC Davis Health Center. The event represents a strong collaborative effort to provide advanced care in the communities of Marysville and Yuba City.
Designed by Kelly Architecture and Planning Inc., the 16,400-square-foot expansion will include 11 additional transfusion bays, bringing the total to 25; six new exam rooms; a new linear accelerator, PET CT scanner and ultrasound machine; when completed by fall 2012. Hilbers Construction is the general contractor on the project.
Fremont-Rideout is part of the UC Davis Cancer Care Network, which provides care to patients close to their homes and utilizes teleconferencing technology that links community-based oncologists with specialists at UC Davis. The affiliation also provides opportunities to assess patients for clinical trial participation.
“An expanded Fremont-Rideout Center will have meaningful impact on the lives of many men and women in our community who need treatment for cancer,” says FRHG CEO Terry Hamilton. “Last year alone, more than 800 new patients were referred to the cancer center, resulting in 28,500 patient visits.”
