Geneia LLC, a health care innovations company specializing in the development and deployment of clinical, analytic and technical solutions for health care, has hired Fred Rahmanian as its new head of technology. Geneia is a subsidiary of Capital BlueCross and located in Swatara Township, Pa. Rahmanian, a data scientist and software architect, comes to Geneia from Massachusetts-based health care data company IBM Watson Health, where he served as the principal data scientist.

The award-winning firm, Carrier Johnson + CULTURE, has announced the addition of John P. Mattox, AIA, LEED AP, as director of Strategic Healthcare Initiatives for the growing Healthcare Division. Maine Behavioral Healthcare has hired Stephen M. Merz, FACHE, as the new CEO. Merz has more than 20 years of experience as a health care executive in Connecticut. Most recently, he led the behavioral health service line of Yale New Haven Hospital, where he has spent the majority of his career overseeing more than 1,500 beds and 13,500 employees. During his time in New Haven, Merz worked on many initiatives that helped integrate mental health care into the larger health system and community.
