Telespial Systems offers its personal location recorder. Using low-power GPS receiver technology, the Track Stick can record its own date, time, location, speed, heading and altitude at preset intervals. It is about the size of a package of chewing gum, and is offered as a solution for clients who need to know where something or someone has been.

An alternative to real-time tracking devices with monthly airtime fees, the device records its location histories for later retrieval by a computer through an integrated USB port.

RoamAlert from VeriChip offers a system to protect wandering patients. Residents are given patient tag containing a small radio frequency transmitter that communicates a unique electronic serial number. Tags can also be placed on medical equipment and staff (for hands-free access through protected exits.)

Portal controllers mounted at doors, elevators, etc., provide access control within the system. System data, such as floor plans and alarms, can be accessed from any computer running a Web browser.
