Bristol Health Marks Launch of Downtown Medical Center

BRISTOL, Conn.—A 62,000-square-foot healthcare facility recently opened to the community in Bristol with great fanfare, hosting representatives of Bristol Health and developer Rendina Healthcare Real Estate among others.

Bristol Health’s Medical Care Center (MCC) is part of the redevelopment of central Bristol, a city in the western-central part of the state near the capital of Hartford. The MCC will entail Bristol Health’s Multi-Specialty Group, which will help an array of patients across various specialties like cardiology, endocrinology and diabetes, neurology, orthopedics, rheumatology and urology.

“It was our board of directors who, in 2015, felt that since access to care was a priority identified in our community health needs assessment, that we should pursue this project,” Bristol Health President and CEO Kurt A. Barwis, FACHE, said regarding the new building. “Even back then, we knew that this would be a win-win for numerous stakeholders including Bristol Health, the city and our patients and families.”

Added Steve Barry, president of Rendina: “The opening of the Bristol Ambulatory Care Center is cause for celebration on many fronts. The new Medical Care Center will help Bristol Health build on their outstanding reputation as a leader in providing the very best care, and its location will serve the community well by providing accessibility and convenience.”

Rendina, which has developed more than 7.75 million square feet of healthcare real estate around the United States, partnered with the hospital to develop the $26 million MCC, and will manage the site.

Bristol Health says the firm serves upwards of 40,000 patients per year in and around the Bristol area.
