Christopher Magent

The Butz Family of Companies consisting of Alexander Building Construction Co., Alvin H. Butz, Inc. and Shoemaker Construction Co., recently announced the promotion of Christopher Magent to chief operating officer. In this newly created position, Magent will be responsible for strategic direction, talent development, maintaining and building continuity between the four offices, and mentoring future leadership. 

Magent has been with Alexander for 13 years, most recently serving as business development and strategic initiatives director for the Butz Family of Companies, and general manager of Alexander’s State College Office. Since joining Alexander, Magent has helped the company’s annual volume grow by championing construction management project delivery, including an emphasis on value added contractor participation during the preconstruction phase and an integrated team approach to project delivery. 

Magent completed research in the field of sustainable building design and construction and earned his PhD in Architectural Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University and contributed to the, “Integrative Design Guide to Green Building.”  Actively involved in local and national organizations, Magent participates in more than a half dozen public and private organizations and Boards. Magent has also served as a juror for various award programs including the Architectural Engineering Institute Professional Project Award program. He is also a reviewer for the Journal of Architectural Engineering.
